I went to the gym this morning, and afterwards I was starving! It never occurred to me to eat before a morning working out, but this article on MSNBC explains what you should be eating pre-and post-workout.
Depending on the day of the week, I work out at various times. Now I know what I can eat before a workout, and what I should have on-hand afterwards. This'll keep me from hitting the McDonald's thru for some fries after spending an hour on the elliptical.

In keeping with my commitment to cut the junk food, after working out this morning I went for my usual Starbucks skinny hazelnut 24 oz latte (iced today), then looked up the McDonald's equivalent just for grins. Here are the details:
Starbucks:
- 160 cal
- 0g fat
- 210mg sodium
- 22g sugar
- 15g protein
McDonald's Iced Hazelnut Coffee
- 190 cal
- 8g fat
- 60mg sodium
- 29g sugar
- 1g protein
So, even though you can save $2 at McD's, you aren't saving much on anything else but sodium. (Plus there's the temptation once you're in the drive-through.)
Just a word to the wise.
there's only 1g of protein in the mcd's version? you gotta wonder what they're using in place of milk.
yet another reason to LOVE the starbucks skinny latte!
